Stencil Stories - A History of Stencil Graffiti

Stencil Stories shows the history of street art through the lens of stencil graffiti and challenges common narratives about its history and origins. Instead of the French pochoirist Blek le Rat as the originator, this film presents other international and more plausible examples of stencil graffiti pioneers from the time before Banksy. The often neglected importance and intertwining of conceptual art and protest art is also highlighted here, and many early and unseen stencils on walls around the world are presented to the audience.
